Wisdom Teeth

It is quite common that insufficient space will exist in the mouth to accommodate all of the teeth that are present. In such cases, the wisom teeth (third molars) often become impacted, or blocked from emerging into the mouth in an ideal arrangement. At other times, wisdom teeth become areas of decay risk in the mouth due to the fact that they cannot be easily cleaned at home. In both cases, your dentist might recommend removal of some or all of the wisdom teeth. A case-by-case decision will then be made as to whether that procedure should be performed by your dentist or by a specialist oral surgeon, and whether a local anesthetic or a general anesthetic should be used.
